Collect

Own a Piece of the Islands.

To collect a Dale Zarrella work is to take guardianship of a living story — carved from ancient koa, cast in enduring bronze, or painted with the light and sea of Hawaii. These works are created to outlast us, to be passed from one generation of caretakers to the next.

The Experience of Collecting

Owning a Dale Zarrella work is not acquiring an object. It is welcoming a presence. Each sculpture and painting is rooted in Hawaiian culture, myth, and the natural world — the curve of a breaking wave, the grain of old-growth koa, the quiet of a sacred grove.

No two works are ever repeated. Every knot in the wood, every pour of bronze, every layer of paint is considered. Collectors are invited into the process — to understand the story, the materials, and the care that will allow each piece to live with them for decades to come.

Commission a Work

Dale accepts a limited number of private commissions each year. Whether a monumental bronze for a public site or an intimate work for a family collection, each commission is a collaboration between artist and patron.

Commission process: an initial consultation to understand your vision and site; selection of material — wood, stone, or bronze; concept sketches or maquettes; an agreed timeline for creation and casting; and finally, delivery and, when needed, on-site installation.

Institutional & Corporate Collections

Dale’s monumental works have entered public and institutional collections across Hawaii and the mainland. For museums, resorts, corporate spaces, and public art programs — Dale’s studio is experienced in large-scale fabrication, installation, and site-specific work. We welcome inquiries from curators and collection managers.

“His works are as fresh and exuberant as they are nuanced and complex.”

Dewitt Jones, National Geographic Photographer

Every work is a conversation between the artist, the material, and you.

If you feel drawn to the islands, to their stories and their forms, Dale invites you to begin that conversation. Share a space, a memory, or an idea — and together you will shape the work that belongs with you.
